The largest Asian American advocacy organization in Los Angeles has announced major layoffs that  could affect services offered to thousands each year.

Eighteen staffers -- about a fifth of Asian Americans Advancing Justice L-A -- are being let go because of a $2 million dollar budget gap. That’s according to union leaders, who say the layoffs will hobble programs that assist people with health care, voter registration, worker rights and immigration services.
